Sandplay Therapy is an increasingly employed modality in the process of healing and trauma for all ages. The Jungian/Kalff Sandplay Method consists of a person utilizing a wide variety of miniature figurines and building a scene in the sand that in contained in a regulation sized wooden tray. The figures represent different aspects of life and fantasy-archetypes. It is the unconscious or psyche that selects the figures when building a sand tray. Sandplay is a safe and concrete way in which people can evaluate their own history. A trained therapist is present to safely hold the space for the person through their own exploration. During this training participants will be introduced to the foundations of Sandplay therapy, discuss the impact of trauma, review case studies and experience a sand tray building. “A basic premise of Sandplay is that psyche possesses a natural tendency to heal itself, given the proper conditions.” Harriet Friedman and Rie Rogers Mitchell.
