POSITION: Family Justice Center (FJC) Health Outreach and Educator (Full Time)
DESCRIPTION: The FJC Health and Outreach Educator will establish linkages to Medical, Mental and substance abuse services. The FJC Health and Outreach Educator will also be responsible for delivering Trainings to Medical/Mental and Substance Abuse Providers on tools for screening for domestic violence. This position reports directly to the FJC Program Coordinator.
Responsibilities include: Establish services linkages with local service providers Establish domestic violence screening procedures with local medical, mental health and substance abuse providers Train healthcare providers on screening patients for domestic violence and linking to appropriate social services providers Coordinator Health Seminars for Clients at the FJC to educate on the intersection of Domestic Violence and Health Attend Community Health Fairs to spread awareness about Health Initiative Program at ECFJC Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the ECFJC Executive Director
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s preferred Bilingual Spanish or Portuguese required Knowledge and experience in domestic violence field Knowledge of the medical, mental health and substance abuse systems Knowledge of the Welfare System Completion of 40 hours domestic violence course preferred Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively Strong organizational, writing and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office and PowerPoint.
