Part Time Crisis Worker

Position :  Part Time Crisis Worker

Hours: 20 Hours (Flexible)

Job Description: At the direction of and in collaboration with The Safe House Manager and Coordinator, the Crisis Worker carries the responsibility for providing direct and indirect services to residential victims of Domestic Violence as outlined below.

Responsibilities:

  • Answer 24 hour hotline and provide appropriate service or referral
  • Admit clients to shelter, assign rooms and provide personal items
  • Complete all admission paperwork
  • Prepare shelter rooms for new admits
  • Receive donations and sort for proper storage
  • Provide client transportation as needed to other social service appointments
  • Assist clients in making appointments and/or transportation to see apartments
  • Providing child care when needed
  • Provide a safe, non-judgemental and empowering environment for staff and clients
  • Other duties as assigned by Program Manager or Coordinator

 

Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or 2 years’ experience working in the Domestic Violence field
  • Knowledge of the Dynamics of Domestic Violence
  • 40 Hours Domestic Violence Training certificate required/completed within 6 months of hire
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively and independently.
