Journaling: A Therapeutic Tool for Healing From Domestic Violence

This workshop is designed to introduce audience members to the use of journaling in their work with survivors of domestic violence. Participants will be presented with specific written exercises that have been designed to increase safety, clarify choices & resources, enhance decision-making/ critical thinking, and empower victims of domestic violence. How journaling can be helpful, how it can be used as part of the healing process, and specific techniques will be explored. Participants will have the opportunity to practice some written exercises, as well as explore some possible barriers. The workshop will be experiential and interactive, intended for helpers of all levels who have a basic understanding of domestic violence.
