Each county in New Jersey has a primary domestic violence agency that provides a 24-hour hotline, a shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, and other services. The national domestic violence hotline will connect you to your local provider.

Where to Go for a Temporary Restraining Order

Apply for a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) in the county’s Family Court during the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (Monday – Friday).

*Please note: if it is before 8:30 a.m., after 3:30 p.m., a weekend or a court holiday, you may go to your local police station to get a TRO.
