Per Diem Shelter Advocate (Part-Time)
Summary: The Per Diem Shelter Advocate is a direct service position that, as part of a team, has primary responsibility for assisting, advocating, and supporting survivors of domestic violence and their children who are residing in the Emergency Shelter Program to be safe, empowered and have increased ability to be independent and free of abuse.
Requirements: Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree, have some knowledge and understanding of domestic violence and trauma, and maintain flexibility in schedule. Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred.
Essential Duties: The Per Diem Shelter Advocate is responsible for overseeing the safety of clients in shelter, creating an empowering, supportive living environment, answering and providing crisis counseling, providing safety planning, information and referrals, and shelter screening on our 24 hour hotline, providing crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy, accompaniment, safety planning, and referrals and information for residents, and inputting and maintaining client information in client database.
